OUR STORY
How We Got Started
Zen Dog started in 2005 when Dr. Brian King of Pet Vet pondered on what to do with our spacious backyard space. Little did he know that what started as a way to utilize space would turn into a loving and personalized doggy daycare. As a small business, we are able to get to know our dogs and clients on a personal level thus providing top notch care.
TEAM
ELIZABETH HEYWOOD
Elizabeth has always known she wants to work with animals. Born and raised in the Charleston area, she spends her free time with her dogs at dog parks, nature trails, and occasionally out on the town. Being of Irish heritage, Elizabeth is a big fan of Irish music, especially fond of Gaelic Storm. Her love of everything Irish has led her to get an Irish Wolfhound, Huan, who is often seen at Zen Dog.
COURTNEY FONDACARO
Courtney is a lover of all animals, but especially of dogs. Although Courtney is from New York, she was born to be a dog mamma living in Charleston with her fur baby Mason, who can be found following her around everywhere she goes. Courtney earned her bachelor's degree in marketing and management from SUNY Albany in 2021. With her knowledge of social media and passion for animals, she loves to keep ya'll updated with photos/videos of your pups everyday on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
ERENE FILIERE
For the past 30 years Erene has spent her summers in Greece working with the stray cats and dogs. She currently works with a local animal rescue called The Friends of Animals in Nea Makri, Greece, where she has converted her family farm into a safe haven and sanctuary for the dogs that don’t manage to get adopted. They also care for the feral cats, and any other creature that may come around needing food, medicine, or comfort. Over the years, she had the privilege to bring back several dogs and cats to the states. While taking some time off from traveling, Erene is currently fulfilling her hearts passion by working with Zen Dog daycare. She looks forward to meeting you and your sweet dogs.
